Jaci Romano is a certified music educator currently working in the New Haven Public School System. Jaci’s musical education started when she was in the 4th grade with piano lessons. She participated in middle school band and high school choral ensembles. As a RVP vocal student, Jaci studied classical voice under Dr. Louis Negri and musical theater and vocal performance under Rose Coppola-Trabandt. In 2001, Jaci began her studies at Western Connecticut State University as a vocal performance and music education student. Throughout her studies, Jaci continued to substitute at RVP studios as a vocal coach. Under the tutelage of great professors in WCSU, Jaci began to excel in the art of teaching music, as well as performing. Throughout her studies, she continued to focus on voice and piano, as well as the basics of a wide range of wind instruments. In 2006, Jaci graduated with a 3.5 GPA and was awarded a degree and certification in music education. She began her career working in Derby Public Schools and stayed in her choral, band, and general music position for three years. After budget cuts, Jaci moved to New Haven Public Schools. There, she teaches general music and keyboard, band, and chorus. With the aid of the New Haven music department, Jaci has just recently been awarded the VH1 Saves the Music grant and received $30,000 in instruments for her program. Throughout her career in New Haven, she has worked closely with Yale School of Music through the Music in the Schools initiative. In 2010, Jaci graduated with a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Special Education and Special Education certification. With this degree, Jaci has been able to incorporate the different techniques for students of all abilities into her music program, making it diverse and learning focused.

Outside of her career, Jaci has worked hard at building and maintaining her private lesson business. She began teaching privately in 2005 as a substitute with RVP Studios. In 2008, Jaci worked 3 years with Connecticut Dance Theater and the Arts as their vocal coach and piano instructor. Through Connecticut Dance Theater, Jaci had the pleasure of working with children of all ages and abilities. Her music students have been awarded Best Overall Vocalist awards and Best Overall Pianist awards at National Competitions, lead roles in musicals through the Whitney Players and local high school plays, as well as pageant winners in local Junior Miss Connecticut pageants. Currently, Jaci teaches privately from her home in Guilford, as well as RVP studios.

Jaci has had the honor of working with some of the great local talent in the area as well. Jaci enjoys working in musical theater and has performed in musicals such as “A Chorus Line,” “Damn Yankees,” and “Guys and Dolls,” under the direction of Act II theater at Alburtus Magnus College and Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven. She has directed two shows as well, including “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” and “Music Man Jr.” In 2000, she worked with the opera program, Teen Opera New England, and helped create and perform an original opera at the Schubert Theater. Jaci has traveled the U.S. with her dance team in local and national competitions with dance and voice. Currently, Jaci plays with the cover band “Cover This” out of New Haven .
